Dr. Wellness Hot Tub / Spa Troubleshooting Guide

Q1: My breaker trips immediately when I turn it on.
A1: First, with the power turned off and disconnected from the hot tub, check the wiring in your breaker and GFCI. If both the breaker and the GFCI are wired properly with the correct wire size and configuration, inspect the circuit board in the spa pack for any damage or wiring issues.

If the circuit board looks good, connect the power back to the tub (ensure the input wiring is wired to the board properly) and disconnect the heater from the board (three wires: red, blue and yellow/green). Turn the power to the tub on. If the breaker holds, call the Service Department. If the break trips, disconnect the two-speed pump from the board (four wires: red, black, white and green).

If the breaker holds, call the Service Department. If the breaker trips, disconnectthe one-speed pump from the board (not on all models - three wires: black, white and green).

If the breaker holds, call the Service Department. If the breaker trips, disconnect the other one-speed pump from the board (not on all models - three wires: black, white and green).

At this point, call the Service Department if the breaker holds or trips.

Q2: My pump isn't working.
A2:

First, make sure that the icon on the display comes on when the button for the pump is pressed.

If it does not, contact the Service Department. If it does, check to see if you hear the pump turn on and run when you turn it on. If you do not hear it running; turn the power off at the breaker, open the power pack and ensure that the pump is plugged into the correct port on the circuit board securely.
If it is, call the Service Department.

If you do hear the pump running but do not see any water moving in the tub, bleed the pump.
First, locate the nonfunctioning pump under the tub.
Turn the pump OFF.
Next, unscrew on of the three bleeder screws located around the flat face of the pump.
Allow the water to run out of the pump for several seconds. It may be necessary to turn the pump on while the bleeder screw is out to dislodge a stubborn vapor lock.
Turn the pump off and screw the bleeder screw back into the pump.
Turn the pump on and check to see if the water begins moving.

If it is not, contact the Service Department.

Q3: I have no power/function to the tub but the breaker is not tripping.
A3: First, turn the power off to the tub.
Open the power pack and check the circuit board for any damage or bad fuses.
If the circuit board looks good and there are no burned out fuses, disconnect and reseat the round plug from the topside keypad to ensure a tight, secure connection to the board. Reconnect the input power wires to the terminal on the board ensuring the wires are connected in the proper order according to the label on the terminal.

Check the wiring in the GFCI and in the breaker and ensure the tub is wired with the proper gauge wire before turning the power back on to the tub.

If the tub still has no power or functions, contact the Service Department.

Q4: I can't hear any audio through my MP3 system.
A4: First, check the read-out on the keypad for the AUX icon.
If the icon is present, check that the MP3 Jack is plugged in securely into your audio device.
Next, remove the access panel from the side of the tub. Follow the MP3 Jack to the round subwoofer in the corner of the frame. Ensure that the MP3 Jack is plugged securely into the top of the subwoofer.

Also, check the top of the subwoofer for a steady red light.
If you do not see a red light (or, if the red light is blinking) call the service department.
If you do not see a red light (or if the red light is blinking) call the Service Department.

If you do see a steady red light, check the fusible link on the power wire that is plugged into the top of the subwoofer. If the fuse is good, call the Service Department.

Q5: Some of my jets aren't working.
A5: First, make sure the diverter valve is set in the middle so that there is uniform pressure throughout the tub.

Then, check to see if the jets are in the "open" position.
On the 5 inch jets, turn the chrome ring on the outside of the jet clockwise until it stops.
On the 3 inch jets, stick your finger into the hole in the middle of the jet and turn the inner part of the jet clockwise.

If the jets are in the open position and the diverter valve is in the middle but you still do not have water pressure through the jet, contact the Service Department.

Q6: I don't think my Prozone Salt System is producing chlorine or it is tripping the breaker.
A6: First, remove the access panel from the side of the hot tub.
The Prozone Unit should be mounted in the corner of the frame.
Check the clear hosing going to the unit to see if water has backed up into the unit.
If it has, contact the Service Department.
If the hosing is clear of water, check the salt cell for salt build-up.
If there is build-up in the salt cell, clean the cell according to the instructions in the Prozone Manual.

Q6: The temperature of the water does not match the temperature on the display.
A6: Check the water temperature with a floating thermometer in the center of the tub as it is normal to have a few degrees difference between the temperature reading on the display and the temperature of the top of the water.

If the temperature in the middle of the tub is different than the temperature on the display, check the ADJ setting in your topside programming. To access the programming menu, hold the "M" button (Mode Button) down for 5 (five) seconds.

The display will blink, "RtC". Push the Mode button ("M") three more times.
The display will now read, "ADJ". This should be set at -3F.

If this is set on a positive number, the temperature displayed will be innaccurate. If the "ADJ" setting is already on -3F, and there is still a temperature disparity, contact the Service Department.
